This vachana literature was the bye-product of social reform against unaccountability etc .There are about 25,000 vachanas available as on now.

Very interesting information and great hub. I'm a native English speaker, but, I've been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to learn Russian and Chinese while staying in these countries. I often wish that language students would look beyond Spanish and French. These languages are amazing, but, the languages of the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) countries are on another level!

I think Kannada is more powerful than even English, in apt expression of thoughts.

Its grammatical structure is quite easy to understand as well as powerful to bring out thoughts and feelings.

We cannot say that a language is more powerful or not. Every language is developed in such a way that it fulfills the need of its users. But due to technological/ scientific developments, a language suffers vocabulary in that particular aspect. But ,a s far as literrrrary ability is concerned, Kannada was much ahead of English
